Manchester City 2-4 PSG: Doué, Dembélé and Vitinha Punish Guardiola Before Haaland Fightback Falls Short

Manchester City's first Champions League home game since the 115-charges verdict ended in defeat, as Paris Saint-Germain raced into a three-goal first-half lead at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, October 14, and held on for a 4-2 win despite a second-half Erling Haaland brace.
Three Goals in 35 Minutes
Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a low driven finish, and Ousmane Dembélé doubled PSG's lead before the half-hour mark. Vitinha added a third with a curling effort from the edge of the box, leaving City chasing the game at the break in front of their own fans.
It was a first-half City had no answer for — Luis Enrique's side controlled the tempo from kickoff and punished space in behind the City backline three times in the space of 22 minutes.
Haaland Strikes Twice, But Too Late
Erling Haaland scored twice in the second half — either side of Maghnes Akliouche briefly restoring PSG's three-goal cushion — taking his Champions League goal tally to 60 and 61 for his career. It wasn't enough: PSG's first-half damage held up, and City suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 season in front of Pep Guardiola.
The result leaves City with work to do in the league phase table after Matchday 2, while PSG move level on points with the competition's early pace-setters.
