Why ChampionsLeagueQuiz Exists

ChampionsLeagueQuiz was built by a football fan and independent developer who has followed the Champions League since childhood. For every edition of the competition, the experience was the same: watching with friends, debating statistics, and arguing about who knew more. Existing quiz apps were static and generic — the same questions repeated, no connection to what was actually happening on the pitch. The Champions League — Europe's biggest club competition, now with 36 clubs in a single league phase — felt like the right moment to build something better: a trivia platform that updates in real time with every goal, every match, and every club in the competition.

Questions generated automatically after goals and key match events. Rounds unlock as the match progresses so you can play from the first whistle to the last.

Every point you score counts toward your club's ranking. Fans from around the world accumulate points together, competing for the title of most knowledgeable fanbase. The leaderboard tracks both individual scores and club totals — so the more you play, the more you lift your club.

How It's Built

ChampionsLeagueQuiz is built with Next.js 14 and TypeScript for fast, SEO-friendly server rendering. Scores and leaderboard data are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL). Live match data comes from a football API that tracks goals, match status, and lineups in real time. The site is fully responsive and works on any device — from a phone during the match to a desktop at half-time. Available in English and Spanish.
